I was born and raised in Toronto, Ontario where I grew up in a Portuguese family and community. I obtained my Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Toronto, where I fell in love optimizing people’s oral health and minimizing their discomfort. I spent the past few years involved with the community where we held events to provide dental care to those with financial obstacles and to those with intellectual disabilities. In the future, I hope to continue using my time to provide dental care in remote communities of Ontario to improve access to dental care.

 

My experiences in dentistry have opened my eyes to the increasing anxiety that patient’s experience when they come to the dentist. I want to ensure that no patient avoids coming to seek dental care due to fear, which is why I am currently studying in a three-year master’s program at the University of Toronto to provide advanced modes of sedation, including general anesthesia, to dental patients. This way, patients can receive all ranges of dental treatment in a relaxed environment.

 

My current hobbies include going on hikes, reading, and playing soccer!
