Our Very First Children’s Day @ The Stockyards

We Care About Our Children!

Teaching a child to understand the idea of preventive dentistry and to brush a minimum of twice a day is quite the task especially if it is not enforced by the parents at home. Home care and dental visits are very important and go hand in hand not only for us adults, but as well for our children.

It is very important to teach good habits early on in life, this is why we insist to see young children every 6 months for their dental hygiene visits.

At each of the hygiene appointments we monitor the child to see how much plaque build up they have, if they are brushing their teeth, where they are missing plague, how often they brush, and if they are flossing. This is the time to start educating them on proper oral hygiene instruction.  If we see areas that are missed we are able to identify them with the parents so that in turn they can ensure the child is able to brush or floss those areas. We will show children easy brushing techniques, flossing techniques and we will monitor to see if they are used. As well we pay attention to see if the child has poor diet or a diet that is lacking in fresh fruits and vegetables and is loaded with pop and sugar.

We watch our little ones very closely as we know that getting into good habits will be vital for the health of their adult teeth.

Here at The Stockyards Dental we want to change the way people think  about dental visits. We want dental visits to become, educational, fun, and full of learning. This is why we decided to dedicate a whole day in the care of children in our office.

Our very first “Children’s Day” will be August 31st, 2017. We hope that this will be something that we will be doing yearly with the help of our parents and their children.

See you all at our first “Children’s Day”!!
